Why buy Aluminium?

Aluminium is the best choice for your home because it is lightweight yet strong. This means it can be designed and manufactured in a wide range of ways giving it an advantage over heavy metals such as steel. Design choices where strength is a concern, such as narrow frames, are still possible due to its strength.

Aesthetically, aluminium can be manufactured in a range of colours and finishes, giving it an advantage over UPVC and wood. Grosvenor Doors will manufacture and powder coat your doors and windows in any RAL colour you request. Because the frames are powder coated, they will not corrode or discolour.

Aluminium is an extremely environmentally friendly material as it is so easy to recycle.

Planning Permission

Though unlikely that you’ll need any sort of planning permission for replacing windows and doors, if you live in a conservation area, you may need to check the regulations. If in doubt, check with your local authority to find out if your home is subject to any planning restrictions or conservation policies. If you’re still unsure, contact us at Grosvenor Doors and we can point you in the right direction.

Thermal Performance

All of our thermally broken products provide the most efficiency available on the UK market. Our door and window systems have been weather tested and certified to provide the best performance available, at a level of efficiency that keeps the warmth inside.

Energy Ratings

Energy ratings measure the thermal performance of a door or window system.
BFRC (British Fenestration Ratings Council) member organisations certify systems to ensure that thermal performance necessary to meet building regulations are met. Grosvenor Doors have years of experience in this area and will work with you to make sure you choose the right system.

Manufacturer or Fabricator…or both?

Generally, within the fenestration industry, there are two types of manufacturer: Systems Manufacturers and Fabricators.
Systems manufacturers design and develop systems and manufacture the components that go with them. Fabricators buy in the components from systems manufacturers and build the product as instructed by the manufacturer specifications.
Some systems manufacturers also occasionally operate as fabricators.

The majority of window and door systems made in the UK are done so by fabricators who buy from well-established system manufacturers. This is because it is impossible for most small companies to spend the huge amounts of money on research, development, and testing that the large multi-billion pound systems manufacturers can.

At Grosvenor Doors, we have the best of both worlds. We design and develop our own specialist security systems as well as working with the best systems manufacturers in the world for a range of our domestic products. This gives us an insight into the design of systems and allows us to use the knowledge to choose only the best systems available.
